Come and view Joy Halvorson's adventure aboard a Russian ship with seven landings on the continent inhabited mainly by penguins.

Adventures in Southern Peru: Part II
|
Part I of "Adventures in Peru" featured the Manu
Rainforest, the IncaTrail, Machu Piccu, Cusco and
the Sacred Valley.
After leaving these
places behind, and travelling south by bus,
Jeanette, Carol and Harvey (CORE members) headed to
the Lake Titicaca area (Puno, Uros floating islands,
and Taquille & Amantani Islands). From there, they
travelled to the beautiful city of Arequipa and
trekked for four days in the Colca Canyon. They then
visited Nazca (home of the famous Nazca Lines) and
finally took a bus north along the coast of Peru,
stopping in Ballestas Islands and HUACACHINA
Sandhills/lagoon resort) before ending their
southern Peru tour in Lima.
If you missed Part I, here's your chance to catch a
glimpse into the culture, geography and life of
Southern Peru. |

This weekend will be south of the border in Glacier National Park, Montana specifically in the Many Glacier area which is also known as America's Little Switzerland!! When you arrive here you will see why with all the soaring peaks and jagged aretes!!! One of the landmarks in the area is the Many Glacier Hotel which was built in 1914 by the Great Northern Railway and is an exquisite place to stay. Nose Hill Park (Past, Present &
Future)
Graham Gerylo, project manager
in charge of Nosehill Park for the City of Calgary, will talk about
Nosehill Park and its trail system, in terms of development and
revitalization, plus talk about some of the park's history/legends, and
maybe even reveal some of his favourite spots.
Milk River Canoe trip
and Group Camp at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park
June 6-8, 2008
There are a couple of spots still left on this trip. The plan is to canoe 10-18 km down an easy and scenic part of the Milk River on Saturday, and possibly do an interpretive hike with the park on Sunday. Everybody will have to arrange their own canoe and a way of getting it down to the park. There will be a small car shuttle in the morning and evening on Saturday for the canoeing.
The
total cost for the campsite is $310, so it depends on how many people
come as to what the price-per-person will be. People must pay $15.50 to
reserve their spot. If we have a fire, a bundle of wood is approx $8-10.
If interested, please send an email to
Jeanettenz@hotmail.com.
