CORE’s September 2006 Trip and Event Schedule

Please note: Trips are added to our on-line calendar on a weekly basis, including urban hikes which happen every Wednesday evening. To join CORE, click on "Forms and Downloads" on the menu on the left-hand-side to obtain a membership form.


Sept. 1-4

Waterton- Glacier Peace Park Hiking Weekend.
A variety of hikes in the beautiful Waterton-Glacier area


Sept. 3

Old Goat Lake Glacier Hike.
Easy to moderate hike in the Smith Dorrien/Spray Lakes region.
10 km return, 350 m elevation gain. Visit a waterfall near Spray Lakes
 

Sept. 3

Helen Lake & Cirque Peak – Icefields Parkway
Hike to Helen Lake - 6 km, 550 elevation gain
Those who want to scramble up Cirque Peak can continue 3 km and 500 metres more
 

Sept. 6

Urban Hike – starting at 7 p.m.
Bowmont Park West (NW Calgary)
6 km, 1.5 hours. Moderate walk with lots of rolling hills

Friends of Kananaskis Trail Maintenance Day.
CORE members are encouraged to take part in Trail Maintenance work parties throughout the summer.

Moderate hike on the Icefields Parkway starting by Crowfoot Glacier
7 km return, 500 m elevation gain; bring your goodies for the potluck

Hawk Creek/Ball Pass Hike
Difficult hike in Kootenay National Park to sub alpine meadows, larches & Mt. Ball
19.4 km, 885 m elevation gain
