Milk River Canoe trip and Group Camp at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park

June 6-8, 2008

There are a couple of spots still left on this trip. The plan is to canoe 10-18 km down an easy and scenic part of the Milk River on Saturday, and possibly do an interpretive hike with the park on Sunday. Everybody will have to arrange their own canoe and a way of getting it down to the park. There will be a small car shuttle in the morning and evening on Saturday for the canoeing.

The total cost for the campsite is $310, so it depends on how many people come as to what the price-per-person will be. People must pay $15.50 to reserve their spot. If we have a fire, a bundle of wood is approx $8-10. If interested, please send an email to Jeanettenz@hotmail.com

2008 CORE MANY-GLACIER WEEKEND:

28-June-2008 thru 1-July-2008

This weekend will be south of the border in Glacier National Park, Montana specifically in the Many Glacier area which is also known as America's Little Switzerland!! When you arrive here you will see why with all the soaring peaks and jagged aretes!!! One of the landmarks in the area is the Many Glacier Hotel which was built in 1914 by the Great Northern Railway and is an exquisite place to stay. This area is home to the majestic Grizzly which can be seen at any given time on the open slopes. It also is a prime area for mountain goats which can be viewed along the Grinnell Glacier Trail and Swiftcurrent Pass Trail throughout the spring, summer and fall.

Group size restrictions lowered at Moraine Lake, Banff National Park

For the past several years, hikers and climbers visiting the popular Moraine Lake area (including Mt. Temple, Paradise Valley and Larch Valley) have had to spend much of the summer traveling in groups of 6 because of the grizzly bear that calls the area home. Based on input from Parks staff and bear experts, Parks Canada has announced the group size minimum will now be 4 when the group size restriction is in place. For more information, visit: http://www.pc.gc.ca/docs/v-g/oursgest-bearmanag/sec4/og-bm4b_E.asp

Tennis -for free!  Practice or play outside- you don't have to be like Agassi--Beginners welcome and group lessons optional. Dust off your racquet and bring some balls. Drinks afterwards at the bar.
Call Andrew at 244-4321 for details such as meeting times, location etc.

Volleyball - try something new! Beginners welcome.  This is a fun game and something that you can learn easily. Call Andrew at 244-4321 or Pat at 338-1201 for details.
